What You Should Know About Foundayo Treatment
- Prices are per month and cover your medication and clinical care. Your first order is at the discounted rate shown on the plan cards above.
- Your prescriber sets your dose. Everyone starts at 0.8mg; your dose is reviewed and adjusted over time, and your price depends on your current prescribed dose. Dose increases are never automatic.
- Each dose is taken for at least 30 days before any increase, and not everyone needs the maximum dose.
- On a plan, your discounted price continues for the length of your plan. The once-off option has no plan and no exit fee, so you can cancel whenever you like.
- Foundayo is a prescription-only medicine. Treatment is subject to a clinical assessment and is provided only where a prescriber considers it suitable for you.

Switching your medication
Switching to the Foundayo Pill
Mounjaro injection, Wegovy and the Foundayo oral pill
These are prescription-only medicines, and any change between them must be approved by your Envigore prescriber. Switching guidance for Foundayo will follow the same format as our Wegovy oral pill page: your current dose, any washout period required, and the Foundayo strength you would start at.
Switching guidance is being finalised by our clinical team. The tables for switching from a Mounjaro injection to the Foundayo pill will appear here once confirmed. In the meantime, if you are an existing Envigore patient and interested in moving to a daily pill, message our patient care team and we will review your options at your next check-in.
This is a general guide for Envigore patients and does not replace personal medical advice. All of these medicines are prescription-only. Any switch must be approved by your prescriber. If you feel unwell after a switch, contact us or seek medical advice.

The evidence
How Much Weight Could You Lose?
Clinical trials of orforglipron have reported meaningful weight loss when used alongside diet, exercise and ongoing lifestyle support. Individual results vary depending on treatment and starting weight.
The doses used in ATTAIN-1 were clinical-trial doses and should not be confused with the authorised Foundayo dosing schedule. The trial tested doses up to 36 mg; the prescribed Foundayo tablet strengths in the UK go up to 17.2 mg.
Orforglipron: ATTAIN-1
In a 72-week study involving adults without diabetes, orforglipron at its highest trial dose produced an average weight loss of around 11.2%, compared with about 2% on placebo. At that dose, 54.6% of participants lost 10% or more of their body weight, 36.0% lost 15% or more, and 18.4% lost 20% or more. It has also been studied in type 2 diabetes, where it lowered blood sugar and supported weight loss.
Trial figures come from separate studies and cannot be compared head-to-head with other medicines. Orforglipron has not been shown to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke. Eligibility and suitability for any treatment are always decided by a clinician.
Safety
Foundayo Side Effects
Like all GLP-1 medicines, Foundayo can cause side effects. Most are mild and improve over time.
Common side effects (usually mild to moderate)
These mostly affect digestion, and tend to ease as your body adjusts, especially as your dose increases gradually:
- Nausea
- Diarrhoea
- Constipation
- Vomiting
- Indigestion, burping and reflux
Less common but important risks
Your clinician will talk you through these during your consultation:
- Pancreatitis
- Gallbladder problems
- Dehydration (especially if vomiting or diarrhoea is significant)
- Low blood sugar if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea
- Allergic reactions (get urgent medical help if you notice swelling of the face or throat, a rash, or difficulty breathing)
Who should not take Foundayo
- Anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2. Foundayo carries a warning about thyroid C-cell tumours based on findings in animal studies; this risk has not been confirmed in humans.
- Anyone who is pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- It is not recommended if you have severe gastroparesis (delayed stomach emptying).
- Missed 7 or more days in a row? Do not restart on your own. Contact our clinical team first, as you may need to restart at a lower dose.
This page is general information, not medical advice, and is not an advertisement for any prescription-only medicine. Any side effect can be reported to the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Always speak with a clinician before starting or changing treatment.
Taking it
How to Take Foundayo
Day to day
- One tablet, once a day, at any time, with or without food, and no water restrictions
- Swallow the tablet whole. Do not break, crush or chew it
- Never take more than one tablet in a day
- Missed a dose? Take it as soon as you remember that day. If it is already the next day, skip it and carry on as normal
Storage and travel
- Store at room temperature in the original bottle and carton, away from light. Keep out of reach of children
- No refrigeration, no needles, no sharps disposal. Keep tablets in their original labelled packaging in your hand luggage
- We can provide a treatment letter for border checks
- Crossing time zones? Keep to one tablet per day and shift your dose time gradually
Everyone starts at 0.8mg. Your dose then increases gradually to 2.5mg, then 5.5mg, with 9mg, 14.5mg and 17.2mg available where needed. You stay on each step for at least 30 days. From 5.5mg onwards you are on a maintenance dose, and your prescriber agrees each change with you.

Medicines That Cannot Be Taken Alongside Foundayo
Always give our prescribers a full list of everything you take, including over-the-counter medicines and herbal remedies. The interactions below matter most:
| Medicine | What you need to know |
|---|---|
| Other GLP-1 medicines | Foundayo must not be combined with Mounjaro, Wegovy or any other GLP-1 receptor agonist. |
| Oral contraceptives | The pill may not work as well while taking Foundayo. Switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method such as condoms, for 30 days after starting and for 30 days after each dose increase. |
| Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors e.g. clarithromycin, itraconazole, ketoconazole | These increase the level of Foundayo in your body. The maximum Foundayo dose alongside these is 9mg. Ritonavir and similar medicines should be avoided completely. |
| Strong CYP3A4 inducers e.g. rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, St John's Wort | These reduce how well Foundayo works and should be avoided. |
| Simvastatin | Do not exceed 20mg of simvastatin daily while taking Foundayo. |
| Insulin and sulfonylureas | Not banned, but doses often need reducing to avoid low blood sugar. This must be managed by your prescriber. |
Foundayo slows stomach emptying, so it can affect how other tablets are absorbed. If you take any medicine where timing or dose is critical, tell our clinical team.
Side by side
Foundayo vs the Wegovy Pill
Both are once-daily GLP-1 tablets. The main differences are the active ingredient and the rules around taking them.
| Foundayo | Wegovy pill | |
|---|---|---|
| Active ingredient | Orforglipron (small molecule GLP-1) | Semaglutide (oral, with SNAC technology) |
| How it's taken | Once-daily tablet, any time of day | Once-daily tablet, first thing in the morning |
| Food and water rules | None. Full or empty stomach | Empty stomach, wait 30 minutes before eating |
| Storage | Room temperature | Room temperature |
| Best suited to | People who want a tablet with no routine rules | People happy with a set morning routine |
| Clinician decides suitability | Yes | Yes |
While clinical trials have shown meaningful weight loss with both treatments, they were studied in separate trials and cannot be directly compared. A healthcare professional can help you weigh up the benefits of each and find the right dose and format for you.
The basics
How Does Foundayo Work?
GLP-1 receptor agonists are medicines that mimic a natural gut hormone involved in appetite and digestion. By reducing appetite and helping you feel fuller after meals, GLP-1 medicine can help you lose weight alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
Foundayo contains orforglipron, a small molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. Because it is a small molecule rather than a peptide, it survives digestion without a special carrier. This is why it needs no fasting window, no timing rules and no water restrictions, unlike other oral GLP-1 treatments.
Keeping it off
Making Your Weight Loss Results Last
Oral medication is just one part of long-term weight management. The lifestyle changes, sustainable habits and ongoing support around the treatment are what make results stick. Envigore’s Stride and Momentum maintenance programmes, dietitian and nutrition support, and regular reviews are built around keeping weight off once you’ve lost it.

Frequently Asked Questions About Foundayo UK
Foundayo is a once-daily oral pill for weight loss containing orforglipron, a small molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist from Eli Lilly, the makers of Mounjaro. It mimics a natural gut hormone (GLP-1) that helps you feel fuller for longer and lowers food cravings. It’s taken alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and is the first GLP-1 tablet with no food, water or timing rules.
Yes. The MHRA approved Foundayo on 10 August 2026 for weight management and type 2 diabetes, making the UK the first country in Europe to license it. It is a prescription-only medicine, available privately. It is not currently available through an NHS weight-loss service; NICE guidance is expected in November 2026.
Yes. All six strengths are in stock. Complete an online assessment and, if suitable, our prescriber will agree your treatment plan with you.
Foundayo is authorised for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI of 27 to 29.9 with at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure. It is also authorised for type 2 diabetes management. Eligibility is always confirmed by a clinical assessment.
One tablet, once a day, at any time, with or without food. Swallow it whole (do not break, crush or chew it) and never take more than one tablet in a day. Everyone starts at 0.8mg, moving up in steps of at least 30 days as agreed with your prescriber, to a maximum of 17.2mg.
In the ATTAIN-1 trial, people on the highest trial dose (36mg) lost an average of 11.2% of their body weight over 72 weeks. Trial doses differ from the authorised tablet strengths, which go up to 17.2mg. Results vary from person to person and depend on the dose you settle at, your diet and your activity.
Injectable Mounjaro and Wegovy produce greater average weight loss in trials, and Mounjaro targets both GLP-1 and GIP receptors while Foundayo targets GLP-1 only. Foundayo trades some trial performance for convenience: a daily tablet with no injections, no refrigeration and no fasting rules. Unlike the Wegovy pill, it can be taken at any time with food and drink. The trials were separate studies and cannot be compared head-to-head.
Often yes, but never on your own. Switching guidance for Envigore patients is being finalised by our clinical team and will appear on this page. In the meantime, message our patient care team and we will review your options at your next check-in.
There is no direct interaction with alcohol, but it can worsen stomach side effects and affect blood sugar, so keep intake modest, especially in the early weeks and after dose increases. Most people can drive as normal; if you feel dizzy, very tired or unwell, do not drive until it passes.
Appetite tends to return, and without a plan some weight regain is common. That is why Envigore builds maintenance in from day one, through our Stride and Momentum maintenance programmes, dietitian support and regular reviews.
